There is a Reason that Free Speech is in the FIRST Amendment

And, a good place to start learning out why, and how that right is under threat, is here.

Threats against those using that right to say things you oppose is just ONE of the actions that is designed to make sure that, even if the Right to Speak Freely is not officially stricken from the Constitution, it is neutered.

I strongly suggest that you view the actual video of the event. It has so often been reported to be a White Supremacist, Nazi-supporting speech, that the truth will astound you.

The fact that the leadership of this Cancel Culture is female is deeply painful to me. We have come a long way - down a very dark and dangerous road - from the days when women seeking to empower themselves sang "I Am Woman, Hear Me Roar".

For Modern Women, it is "I am a TERF (But Don't Hate Me Because of That), Hear me Whimper".

Where did it start?

For the Modern, BLM and AntiFa-affiliated Left, it was the Michael Brown moment. Like so many flashpoints, it was not a defense of a Good Man Shot Down Like a Dog by Evil Police, but more complicated than that.

And, the DOJ - that same department UNDER PRESIDENT OBAMA, and staffed with lawyers and others who completely agreed with the BLM group's aims, had to agree that the "Hands Up, Don't Shoot" meme was false.

Please read the above link - it's pivotal to your understanding. Then, the following essay will make more sense.

Where is that agenda coming from?

(I realize that many of the regular readers here, as well as those who seek their news and commentary on a variety of outlets, may already be familiar with these links and background info. However, I thought it important to occasionally put an "info dump" out there, as you might want to forward a link to this post to others, who may be new to Dissident Media.)

Let's start with a relatively mainstream publication - Rolling Stone Magazine (who would have every thought that they could be considered 'tame'?).

RSM is heavily on board with the Dem platforms - from so-called "Medicare for All", to "free" college, and - of course - legalizing weed. (I previously wrote about Medicare for All, and why it would NOT be "Free", here and here).

But the major change that all of that agenda signals is clearly stated in the headline - The Democrat's Radical Agenda.

And, Radical it indeed is. Not to mention expensive - not just for "the rich", but for all of us.

And, a good place to start looking for the origin of that Radical Agenda is an innocent-seeming little document called the Civil Rights Act.

Initially, it appeared to be relatively innocuous. It "just" said that all people would have access to all facets of American life on a non-discriminatory basis.

At least, that's how it was sold to the public. But, it fundamentally changed American life - and not as anticipated.

For starters, no longer would the Federal government be solely responsible for making sure that no discrimination took place. That, under the Civil Rights law, became the responsibility of private companies.

The genius of civil litigation as a method of censorship is that it puts private companies, not government, in charge of enforcement.

Which is where we are now, with private companies caving on even questionable claims, for fear of being slapped with a large settlement. And, has those same companies shutting down dissent, for fear of CIVIL legal action, in decidedly unfriendly courts.

Conservative brains were scrambled by this new situation in which businesses were the bad guys, so they fell back on the tactic of pointing out horror stories of P.C. overreach, hoping that the sheer ridiculousness of these examples would drive a stake through political correctness. This tactic will never work, Caldwell insists. It doesn’t matter how ridiculous business owners consider the latest P.C. demands. As long as the law requires them to be vigilant about conduct that can be characterized as discriminatory, they are going to keep enforcing P.C. rules.

And, that leads to today's situation, where nervous (and wealthy) corporations buckle under at the least hint of a threat. And, of course, the VERY partisan Civil Rights Dept., the Federal Courts, and other government pressure centers will add their 2 cents to the coercion.

The above quotes and information come from Claremont Review of Books, a very nice site that I've been perusing lately.

The mushiness of CRL (Civil Rights Law), as well as the eagerness of its enforcers to twist it to reach their desired aims, makes it hard NOT to commit a technical violation (and, the flexibility of the lawyers in that section make guilt a predetermined reality).

Organizations are forced to err on the side of political correctness because civil rights law is fundamentally vague, even self-contradictory. Affirmative action at professional schools is defended on the grounds that minority populations are better served if they have doctors and lawyers who look like them. When Walgreens was found to be assigning Sokmanagers to stores in certain neighborhoods on the logic that black customers are better served by managers who look like them, the resulting anti-discrimination case cost the company $24 million to settle. When Ann Hopkins sued Price Waterhouse for sex discrimination for not making her a partner, the court found in Hopkins’s favor because the firm had ignored objective criteria, like dollar value of business brought in, in favor of subjective measures like personality. Last year, a judge upheld Harvard’s admissions policy against the lawsuit brought on behalf of rejected Asian applicants because she found that Harvard must be allowed to ignore objective criteria, like test scores, in favor of subjective measures like personality.

To push back against 'the Narrative' - whatever B$ the Left wants to make their Official Position for the moment, at least -  is to put your body in the way of a steamroller. As long as people fear to put their dissent into an open forum - because they have jobs, families, a life - the Left will win.

We need to mobilize those with less to lose - the retired, those with incomes independent from risk of loss by frenzied nuts, ex-military, who, presumably, have faced greater risks in the past, and those journalists willing to subsist on the crumbs provided by a donating readership - and use them to take the incoming missiles of the Left.

Those who fear retribution need to man/woman up, and commit to regular financial support (if necessary, sending it in the form of prepaid debit cards or money orders, to keep the money trail from being mined for future attacks). I've started with several bloggers I know, whether by Paypal/regular withdrawals, and finding others on SubStack (a site that will allow pay-for-play - you subscribe to those channels that you want to support directly).

Also, consider signing up for one of the aggregators sites - Townhall.com, where Kurt Schlichter posts, or Instapundit, to name just two. One monthly donation unlocks all of the Premium content, a veritable bargain.

Let me be honest - this is likely to become an all-out, full-court press. We need to attack legally, in the media, in person, at work, in our communities, and in schools at all levels. The Left has been unopposed (or, lightly opposed) for too long.

We need to learn about the roots of the Radical Left, how they operate, and what their goals are (more specifically than They Want To Control Everything). I'll address that in future posts. Look for them with the label Leftists and Conservative Self-Education.
