"The Equivalent of Blackface"

I've been saying this for years. If Blackface is a bad thing (and, I believe that it is, although I don't believe in retroactive punishment for it), then using exaggerated makeup, padding, and use of feminine attire to assume a psuedo-female persona is wrong.

We women are expected to treat this parody of feminine appearance aw normal - which it is not.

Drag is offensive. It is NOT an "Homage" to Women. It is a stereotyped, over-the-top impression of what a MAN thinks a woman is. It is reduction of the complexity of femininity to a one-dimensional focus on superficial appearance.

And, like Blackface, it's time Drag stopped being treated as 'funny or cute', and was treated like the offensive celebration of stereotypes that it is.

And, as for the use of surgery to mimic the appearance of a woman, other than those few individuals whose sexual identity is ambiguous as an accident of birth, it has to be treated as a mental/emotional aberration. They may chose to live their lives putting on a superficial appearance as a female, and, in some cases, even being given a cover (driver's license, etc.) as a legal fiction, but they are NOT women.
